Nona Hendryx’s “Transformation”
Where is Nona Hendryx? You could find her in Labelle, a glam rock funk psychodelic black-to-the-future group of the 60s and 70s. You can try to catch her in her subsequent solo career, roaming through varying terrains of genre — progressive rock, R&B, funk, new age, among others. Inventing and re-inventing. Protean and peregrine, you can’t find her in a single c/age. So “Transformations” remains a fitting anthem for this diva on the move. After all, the name of her latest album, Mutatis Mutandis, is Latin for “Nona Hendryx is the empress of change.”
