Women's Culture Night

In honor of Women’s History Month, this week GLOBE is taking a trip to the The Brooklyn Community Pride Center to participate in their monthly collaboration with Circle of Voices Inc. (for women of color, women of African descent and friends) called “Women’s Culture Night”. This month they’re having a panel discussion with leaders and elders of the community talking about their lives and experiences as LGBTQ women in Brooklyn.

Speakers include Jean Wimberly, Bobbi and Jerry Whitsett-Pilgrim, Renair Amin, Taneshia-Sacred Walker, Ryann Holmes of bklyn boihood and more… This is a great way to connect with our lineage and history here in Brooklyn.

We will meet at the office (301 Grove St, Bushwick) at 4:30pm and leave PROMPTLY at 5pm. Metrocards will be available.

If you need to meet us there the event is 6-9pm on Willoughby st and Gold st in downtown Brooklyn. Message me for details!

I'm here for my stoning

11:30am
36 w 123rd St (Outside) – Northeast Corner of 123rd and Lenox

Peaceful protest outside ATLAH World Missionary Church
Saturday, March 29th, 11:30 a.m.
36 West 123rd Street at Lenox Avenue, Northeast Corner. (Take the 2 or 3 train to the 125th Street stop. BX15, M116 buses to 125th and Lenox.)

Harlem resident Jennifer Louise Lopez got tired of repeatedly viewing ATLAH Pastor James David Manning’s virulently homophobic sign saying, “Jesus would stone homos. Harlem is a homo free zone.”

An LGBT activist and founder of ETNYC (Everything Transgender in New York City), Lopez showed up at the church last week and asked for her stoning. The video of the hilarious interaction with a befuddled staffer went global and received an outpouring of support for this brave woman.
